Flora: A Restoration of Light and Resilience

$550.00

Flora: A Restoration of Light and Resilience

This piece is not just a restoration—Flora Afro Girl symbolizes healing, resilience, and the power to rise again after life’s storms. Originally designed as the “daughter” of my signature piece Paisley Afro Girl, Flora represents a deeper connection to my family. She embodies my late sister, who always followed in my mother's footsteps, setting a high standard as the firstborn.

After a devastating storm hit at a market in 2024, Flora was ruined—her petals water-damaged and faded. The loss felt personal—like losing my sister all over again, as this piece held so much meaning. But restoring Flora wasn’t just about fixing art; it was about bringing back her light and vibrancy, just as I have to do in my own life when facing challenges.

I chose a yellow background to represent the time just before sunset—that moment when the bright afternoon sunlingers, reminding me that even after the storm, the light will return. The yellow is symbolic of hope, and it reflects the strength that has always been part of my family.

What makes this restoration even more special is the one flower on the piece that survived the storm—the only flower untouched by the rain. This represents the importance of staying true to yourself and finding resilience no matter what life throws your way.

Flora’s journey from damage to restoration mirrors the journey of life itself—grief, growth, and the ability to find beauty even in the aftermath of hardship. This piece is a powerful reminder that no matter how challenging life can be, there is always room for rebirth, healing, and a new beginning.
